In President-elect Obama's acceptance speech, we all heard him say to his daughters he would make good on the promise of a puppy. Now let's see if he truly means it. There has been much discussion among animal lovers on shelter dog versus purebred. There is a great story in the Chicago Tribune about this process.

Although the AKC is calling for a purebred, Michelle Obama has said the new puppy will be a shelter dog. There is a saying which goes something like, "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." I would imagine a shelter pup is going to have the Obama family wrapped around his paw shortly.
