Sheriff to auction off old stray mare
You don't opften see the word stray associated with horses and animal control agencies. So this news story which happened up in the Panhandle caught my eye.
This horse, which is a 900-pound, 15-hand sorrel quarter horse who is estimated to be 20 years old must be auctioned off by the sheriff because of an old law which is still on the books.
Animal Services suspects she was simply let loose because her owner's couldn't afford to keep her any long. No one knows her name or where she came from.
