Being recognized for the rescue you do
My soon to be daughter-in-law made a trip with me out to Satchel's to visit my new dog who is coming home on Sunday. As we walked through the kennels after the meeting, I was tickled to see her approach each kennel cautiously, ask each dog's story, and not try to pet or interact with the dogs who need more intro time than a kennel walk through.
She, of course, fell in love with Howie, who was in the play yard, rubbing up against the fence and asking for a scratch. I am used to seeing her with her two little doxies and forget she was raised around all sorts of dogs, large and small. Her parents now have a Great Dane, a Doberman, and a Golden Retriever living in their home.
So after we arrived back home as she was cuddling her two doxies, she was describing Howie to my son with such love and compassion in her voice, I knew she was the perfect wife for my son.
Then as I was scrolling through facebook, I saw this she had posted, "Nov 23 - I am thankful that there is a place like Satchel's which gives deserving and misunderstood dogs a second chance at life."
So, the younger generation of rescuers is coming along. Seeing and appreciating a shelter like Satchel's shows me they are on the correct path with their mission.
So if you would like to join a wonderful group of people working to save as many animals as possible, please contact Satchel's at comments@satchelslastresort.com. We love our animals but we also love our volunteers.
And Howie, the dog Emily fell in love with, his photo is at the top of the page and he is available for adoption.
