A feel good story

Anytime you adopt a new pet, especially a shy dog, care must be taken when you get the animal home. Most dogs who are shy and timid must learn to trust again and they have no bond with their new family the first day home. The adopters are virtually a stranger.
I know of many instances where a new dog got home, bolted out the door, and the ending was sad.
This week, I heard a story that concerns some local volunteers and the story had a much happier ending.
Last Saturday, a dog was adopted and broke loose when he got home. He never even made it in the house. Many volunteers went to the area where the dog was loose but despite a few sightings, could not catch him. He was scared and would not come to anyone. Every day, at different times, volunteers who knew the dog, and some who didn't, were out calling and searching in the area where he escaped.
After erecting a camouflage hav-a-heart trap, the volunteers were hopeful he would feel comfortable and make a bed inside. Thursday night, after being loose since Saturday, he crawled inside the trap and went to sleep.
Success! He is now home and giving kisses to his new mom and the people who searched diligently for him got a good night's sleep.
Animal welfare people are the best. Thanks you guys.
