Low cost microchip/vaccinations plus adoptathon

Suncoast Humane Society and Build-a-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation are partnering to offer a low-cost microchip and vaccination clinic, along with an adoptathon, in North Port. The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Saturday, August 8, at the Society’s North Port Thrift Store, located at North Port Place, 14942 US 41.
Microchipping is an important measure that can be taken to better assure the safe return of your pet, in time of displacement. This is especially important during hurricane season.
There will be affordable prices on vaccination, flea & tick prevention products, microchipping and heartworm tests and prevention.
Special vaccination packages will be available for as low as $39 for canines and $28 for felines. Rabies vaccinations will be given for $8. Your pet can be micro-chipped for $25.
Dr. Randy Hitesman, Suncoast Humane Society’s veterinarian will lead the medical team in conducting the event. All proceeds will benefit the animals at Suncoast Humane Society.
If you have been thinking of adding a pet to your family, you may want to consider one of the dogs or cats that will be featured for adoption. Special adoption fees will be $50 for canines and $35 for felines. The microchip, vaccination, and adoptathon event also offers an ideal time to donate items for sale, and/or shop at the Society’s new North Port Thrift Store.
Phil Snyder, Executive Director of Suncoast Humane Society states, “Microchipping can be the best insurance for a safe return of your pet, if he/she becomes lost. This is also a great opportunity to bring your pet up-to-date on all needed vaccinations, if you have had to put this off because of the economy.”
