Justified raid on Chicago home?

When I read news reports about dog fighting and animal abuse, I get angry. I also realize there are hot button issues in big cities which get peoples' attention pretty quick. Dogfighting and drugs are some of those catch words.
I was dismayed to see the Chicago police raided the home of a 78 year old man and his family because someone said there was illegal activity going on in the home. The pitbulls were taken by animal control, even though the family had two of them for 6 years. The police found no evidence of drugs or dogfighting.
