Good Samaritans Save Dying Labrador Retriever

I received this from Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida. You can watch the video of this wonderful dog here and then read the story. It is heartwarming to know people still care.

Times are tough and most people will just keep walking or will ignore those in need regardless of species. But several good Samaritans could not. Wade and Cristine Browne have dogs and know dog behavior so when a black lab showed up near their home they watched and watched and watched. They watched as he patiently sat by the roadside near their home for almost a week as if waiting for his owner to return. The assumption was that he was dumped off and the owners left. But this lovely boy now named Marley waited. Waited for his family to come back, why not they loved him right? Well wrong. Marley sat there and the Brown’s brought him food and water. They tried to bring him into their home but their Great Danes would not accept him.
Marley sat patiently for a week waiting then one day the family didn't see him. They went looking and that is when Marley was found lying in a ditch seriously injured. He had a 2-3" deep gash on the back of his head, a deep gash near his eye, and what appeared to be burns on the right side of his head/face. Marley was in shock and dying. He was in trouble and needed help fast. Wade and Cristine took him to Riverside Animal Hospital in Jacksonville where he was treated by Dr Rossi. The couple and Dr Rossi paid for his initial treatment. The Browne’s contacted Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida (LRROF) and last Tuesday Marley was picked up from Dr. Rossi’s and transported to San Jose-Beauclerc Animal Hospital where Dr. McMillian and Dr. Nash continued with Marley’s extensive treatment. With support from the Browne’s, two local Animal Clinics and LRROF, Marley is on the mend. He has a long road but with love and treatment he has a second chance at a wonderful life.
Marley presently has stitches and a drain in head and his burns are being treated. Amazingly, he still loves people. Marley has wonderful inside manners. His is already house trained and knows his basic commands. He does have heartworms so when his wounds heal he will begin that treatment.
Marley is a loving Labrador and has captured the hearts of volunteers in Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida. He will be treated and loved to full recovery but we need your help and support. His treatment is expensive. Donations for Marley’s treatment can be sent to:
