A perfect day to adopt

Today marks the beginning of the fall season for me. There is a little bit of coolness in the air, the humidity is not as stiffling, and there are many animals who need good homes out there.
"Homes 4 the Holidays" campaign sponsored by Iams pet food begins Ocotober 1 and runs through January 1, 2009.
In 2007, 491,612 pets went “ Home 4 the Holidays” and set a new world adoption record!
Nearly half-a-million orphaned dogs, cats, and other pets began 2008 with their new families after being adopted during the 2007 “Iams Home 4 the Holidays” pet adoption drive.
The 2,762 participating groups in 15 countries report a new world record of 491,612 pet adoptions during the 9 th annual campaign. The previous record of 378,764 was set in 2006.
I know the economy is not the best and I know many people are struggling to make ends meet. I am a part of that sector of the United States. I also know the joy my companions bring me each and every day they are here. I would not trade them for anything.
Regatta, the puppy pictured here is one of those looking for homes. She lives at the Humane Society of Sarasota County. She is only 9 months old and came in with Jibby, her sister. We called them the sailing sisters. Jibby has been adopted and left poor Regatta behind. You can call 955-4131 or check her out here.
Please visit or call your local rescue group or humane society today. There are thousands of pets who would love to make this season special and go "Home 4 the Holidays."
