Don't miss the book signing
On Saturday, October 11, 2008, six local authors who have written and/or illustrated both fiction and nonfiction books about their love for dogs and cats will gather at Animals by Nature in Sarasota for a pre-holiday book signing.
Several local, nonprofit animal rescue groups will also be on hand during the event with puppies, kittens, dogs and cats that are now available for adoption.
The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Animals by Nature, a charming Sarasota shop that sells natural/organic animal foods and colorful gifts and accessories for dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish and ferrets. Animals by Nature is located at 1100 N. Tuttle Avenue in the Grand Slam Plaza, across from Ed Smith Stadium.
In attendance at the book signing will be Susie Jackson Batty, author of Of Cats and Angels by Mr. d’Arcy: A Very Special Birman Cat, the story of an English couple and their three Birman cats; Carole Stevens Bibisi, writer and illustrator of Tails of American Bronte: A Cat’s View of Life, a colorful collection of poetry and pictures; Hemingway scholar Carlene Fredericka Brennen, author of Hemingway’s Cats: An Illustrated Biography, which details famed author Ernest Hemingway’s spirited passion for felines; Jack Kahn, author of Angels in Disguise, which features stories, anecdotes, cartoons and color portraits of the writer’s family of abandoned and adopted animals; Lindy Lindemann, author of “A Cat’s Tale: One Cat’s Search for the Meaning of Life,” a delightful children’s book illustrated by Jody Wheeler; and Fran A. Wood, author of What My Dog Taught Me About God, an inspiring collection of short stories about how her beloved dog, Bandit, helped her reconnect with God after she experienced several life-changing experiences.
All of the authors, who live on Florida’s Gulf Coast, will have copies of their books available for purchase.
Community residents are invited to attend this special event to meet the authors to not only get a head start on their holiday shopping, but to welcome a four-legged friend in desperate need of a home into their families.
