Englewood cat rescue may lose power
Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a non-profit, free-roaming, cage-less, no-kill haven and rescue for unwanted kitties. They are located in Englewood and serve the Tri-County area. The founders of Puffy Paws Kitty Haven, Chrissy and Rick Kingston, take care of over 100 rescued and unwanted kittens and kitties. The daily cost of the cat litter, cat food and cleaning supplies is around $100 dollars a day. Puffy Paws has managed to come up with this tremendous cost on a daily basics but Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is in danger of losing power and lights to the Haven.
Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is behind three months on their Florida Power and Light bill by 2,273.00 and they asking the community for help. They have received a final disconnect notice from FPL and could have the power turned off at any time.
Puffy Paws got behind on three months worth of bills because fundraising is down due to the fact that Co-founder Rick Kingston suffered a heart attack in September and had two stents put into his heart. With Rick’s health problems, he was not able to raise money this summer to pay all the bills for the kitties. Donations are also down due to the economical situation in the county.
If you would like to help Puffy Paws keep the lights on you can ! You may go on-line to their website and donate, or you may send a check in the mail or stop by the Haven. Please make all checks payable to Puffy Paws Kitty Haven, Their address is 270 Lakeview Lane, Englewood, FL 34223 or you may call them directly at 941-473 - 5406 .
