Animal cruelty is finally taken seriously

Leave it to Los Angeles to be the poster child for handling animal cruelty. They are a huge city with a huge problem, and they have begun addressing that problem.
I was happy to see this article in the Los Angeles Times. The program is just beginning, but they are already seeing results in more jail time and stiffer fines.
Cruelty is cruelty, whether it is beating a defenseless dog to death, or staging a cockfight or dogfight for your profit and the animal's death.
Thank God someone is finally taking notice.
