Getting the short end of the stick

Every dog I know who resides in a shelter or rescue got the short end of the stick. I tell Buzz all the time how lucky he is I don't discard my animals, regardless of the situation.
Sometimes giving up a pet is unavoidable, but do you have any idea how many times people won't even try to correct the problem they are having? They are content to simply dump their dog and go on to the next.
Look at this from the dogs' point of view: (they do have them no matter what some people think) They live in a home and are part of a pack. All is right and they love their family. In the blink of an eye, they are living with 30 or 40 other dogs in a kennel with people caring for them who they don't know.
Strange people walk by, pick them, and now they are in a different home, with a different pack and a whole new set of rules. So why do dogs get confused again?
The dogs have no say in the choice. No say when they get dumped, no say when they go home, and no say if they get dumped again.
Please contact an animal trainer or behavior person before dumping your dog. Whatever the problem is, in most cases, it can be fixed. Unless of course, it is simply you are part of the throwaway society so many people belong to now and dogs are a dime a dozen.
