Who gets the pet in a divorce?

It was interesting to me to see this story on AOL, which talks about the relatively new field of animal law. The article says animal law has only been around for 10 years, and in most cases, the pet is treated as a coffee table or bed, a piece of property if you will. It also says that is changing in many areas and in many law schools. Check it out.
