Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch opening soon

I am printing this press release so many people who do not support an animal rescue group will have another one to choose from. Don't you think it is sad though, we need so many in this rich, cultural area because so many animals still need help?

Lakewood Ranch, FL November 15, 2010 -- A group of experienced animal rescuers have banded together to create the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch (HSLWR) that will focus on high risk animals in area local animal service municipalities of Manatee and Sarasota counties. Based on the NO KILL Community philosophy, HSLWR will offer a range of needed programs in a very underserved area.
HSLWR is searching for a location to provide a rescue facility for dogs and cats, puppies and kittens that can provide needed medical treatment, shelter for them, a high volume low cost/free spay and neuter program, education and community outreach and a Last Resort program (for unadoptable animals, a sanctuary or long-term living situation).
"There are so many animals in need right now. Owners are surrendering them due to job loss, home loss, moving and a host of problems. We will do our best to help all owners and their animals. We also see a huge need to transfer out animals from our local animal services municipalities. Too many wonderful dogs and cats are at risk for euthanasia due to overpopulation. We will save as many as possible." stated Autumn Solomon, newly elected Board President.
"We see a huge need and know that our rescue partners are doing everything they can. More is needed and a long term facility that can provide a range of world-class animal shelter programs is what Lakewood Ranch can provide. Our Mission Statement is how we will operate." shared Debbie Rubin, Vice President, Board of Directors, HSLWR.
Recently incorporated and 501c3 application pending, the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch is poised to step up and help save many more animals; while also offering a high volume spay /neuter program to the surrounding communities. The expertise and experience of the group in animal rescue is extensive and impressive.
The Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch will be looking to the community for more volunteers and help in creating a world class facility and programs.
