Overcrowding is being seen all over

Overcrowding of animal shelters is becoming the norm in southwest Florida. All the rescues and shelters I know of are bursting at the seams. The end result, of course, is euthanasia, which none of us like to talk about.
This story about the Naples shelter brings this problem right up to us. They have 96 animals on their waiting list much like the shelters around here do. They only have so much space and so much money. The end result is euthanasia simple because there are too many animals.
If you are looking for a new pet to become a member of your family, please visit your local rescue or shelter and opt to adopt and if you know of anyone who has an unaltered pet, please encourage them to have them spayed or neutered. We need to stop this endless killing of animals simply due to the overpopulation caused by human apathy.
