The explosion of cats and kittens

Every year it is the same. We keep hoping things will improve and perhaps they are and we have just not been made aware. I am speaking of kitten season. In Florida we have three because of our weather patterns.
In Mississippi they are now offering all cats and kittens free for adopting. They have more than double the number of animals their shelter was built for. I am sure it is the same in our area. What that means is the euthanasia rates will go up in the area because more cats and kittens will have no room at the inn.
It seems pretty sad to me we continue to allow all these companion animals to die when a simple solution is to spay and neuter your pets.
