Room with a view by Boris and Natasha
Greetings from Boris and Natasha,
We are the new bloggers from Satchel's Last Resort and due to the recent departure of one of our friends, Baxter, have been signed to take over the writings of the comings and goings here.
A little about us first. Boris, that's me, and Natasha, that's her, are very bonded and can never leave here without the other. That being said, no one wants to take on both of us so we have lived here ever since we were found, running down Main Street in Sarasota, by a volunteer at the Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary.
He took us in and got us all fixed up with vet care and then we came to live here. We were born in 2003, which makes us about 7 years old. It seems every time someone was interested in adopting us, we couldn't make up our minds. If I liked them, Natasha had reservations. If she liked them, I just wanted them gone.
We live together, play together, sleep together, switch bowls at dinner time and generally don't want to be around anyone else but each other.
I love to run up the agility cat walk and survey the field especially if someone will scratch my butt. Natasha is more girly and simply wants kisses and hugs. I never understood that. I have a nub tail and hers is natural. I still maintain my good looks but she is suffering a little from middle-aged spread. (sorry, sometimes the truth hurts)
We are crowded, crowded, crowded with dogs right now. I don't believe in all the years I have lived here I have seen so many. Some of us who have been here a while are more mature dogs, but we have some newer young ones who are looking for good homes.
Betty Boop, who was a cute little thing and less than a year old, got adopted on Saturday and went home with a 9 year old cocker spaniel. She was a typical puppy, though and most people want those.
We also have a beautiful Weimaraner mix named River who is only 3. He is a big boy, probably 3 times my size and very strong so maybe a body builder is looking for a buddy.
All the old regulars are here. Libby is still looking and she is a yellow labrador so the mix is good of available dogs. She lives in the kennel right next to ours. Ours has a big window. Or maybe it is a door, but whatever it is we have a great view of the back acreage and get to watch all the critters cavorting through the pasture. There are no cows back there now, but in our younger days Natasha and I loved to torment them. Now we watch the deer and the sandhill cranes walking around. We always bark just to let them know we are there, but can't get to them. One person here calls it "doggie TV " and it does keep us mentally alert to our surroundings.
Well, that is our introduction in the world of computers. Let us know if you like it and we will keep sending our thoughts your way. Next week will be Natasha's turn to talk and heaven only knows what she will come up with. Being a girl and everything.
Until then keep smiling,
The Turbos,
Boris and Natasha
