Despite all odds, a survivor is doing well

We all hear the stories of unwanted pets. Sometimes we actually are involved in the rescue and care of one. This is the story of a little Persian cat named Brigette and the people who saved her when she could have easily become a statistic.
She was found wandering the streets of Bradenton, covered in dirt and sandspurs. Her long coat was matted and the little, three pound cat had never been spayed. She was picked up by Animal Services in Palmetto and was rescued by TANKS, a cat rescue in Sarasota. They were hoping to transfer her to Persian Rescue. Unfortunately, Bridgette was rejected for adoption due to her condition and became the poster cat for thrown away animals. She was taken to a veterinary clinic where she was given a haircut and was treated for fleas and terribly infected eyes and placed in a foster home.
Her eyes did not respond to treatment and the veterinarians thought she should be taken to Dr. Salisbury with Animal Eye Care but as with most rescued animals money was an issue. Her bill so far $300.00 mark.
Then ARC, the Animal Rescue Coalition stepped in. They made the appointment and Bridgette got to see the eye expert. She weighed in at 5.8 pounds and was diagnosed with eye herpes which can be treated with antibiotics and eye cleansings.
Bridgette is just one of thousands of animals who get kicked to the curb every day. A Special Thanks goes out to ARC, TANKS, West Coast Veterinary Clinic, Animal Services Palmetto, Dr. Salisbury and her foster mom for helping to save a little cat who did nothing wrong but try and survive the streets.
