Animal standards and treatment to be part of new contract in St. Lucie County

This story caught my eye because there are many county animal controls who depend on private shelters to handle the animals in the county. The county normally pays a fee per year for this service. There have been allegations from the public about the treatment of animals coming into the shelter and why the government is not holding the private facility more accountable.
