Remembering shelters on cold, rainy days

I think everyone should remember shelters and the animals who live there on a daily basis. Of course, homeless animals are my passion, so I am living in a dream world when I think that.
So today we are ushering in a cold front. The temperatures are going to drop down colder than we have seen this year. Living in Florida, we don't have a lot of really cold weather, but when the thermostat falls into the 30's, we all feel it. This is what my boyfriend calls snuggling weather.
The problem is, shelter dogs don't have anyone to snuggle with. They live in a concrete cage and are lucky if they have a blanket or a bed to lay on. Kennels are cold, damp and impersonal. If they are really lucky, they have a kennel mate to lay next to for warmth.
So if you have some time to spare, please check your closets for old blankets and towels. Then drop them off at your local rescue or shelter.
On the coldest night of the year so far, our shelter residents need a little warmth to snuggle in.
